Within seconds of the fireboat GEORGE M. JACKSON being christened at the waterfront, Camden County Dispatch sent units of the Camden Fire Department to a dwelling at 844 Haddon Avenue. A malfunctioning heater had filled the house with smoke. Just after Ladder Company 1 and Squad Company 7 left the scene, they were sent to 928-B South 6th Street to investigate an alarm activation. This also proved negative.
