On Sunday afternoon, December 11, 2011 Engine Company 1 investigated a report of a natural gas leak at 806 Elm Street in North Camden, which proved negative.

Units were responding to the report of people stuck in an elevator at the medical building at 3 Cooper Plaza when another call went out regarding a fire at a dwelling at 533 West Street in South Camden. Ladder Company 2 arrived and reported heavy fire conditions on the second 2nd floor and struck the all hands alarm. The first due engine secured a water supply and placed a 1-3/4" hand line in operation with heavy fire conditions followed by a back up line. Searches were negative, and the fire was placed under control with no reported injuries. One resident was left homeless, and the Red Cross was contacted.

Fire photographer Ted Aurig was on scene as units arrived. I arrived moments after the blaze had been placed under control.
