Fire Department |
This page and the other pages in this series are the successors to the series of web-page about the Camden Fire Department called Camden Fire Department: The Fires of the Summer of 2011. On this and other pages in the series you will find pictures and information regarding different events and aspects of the fire service in Camden, New Jersey. On November 14, 2011 the Camden Fire Department responded in relatively short order to three calls or service. Times will be forthcoming. The first job concerned a two-car accident at the intersection of South 8th and Spruce Streets. Squad Company 7 responded, and fortunately there were no serious injuries. Minutes after that call came in, a kitchen fire was reported in the 1800 block of Kossuth Street. Engine Company 10 responded and found that a grease fire caused by careless cooking had gotten worse due to the resident pouring water on it… not a good thing. Apparently the fire suppression unit built into the range hood had been tampered with. The fire was taken care of without having to run hose, avoiding water damage. As this job wrapped up a call came concerning a fire having been set at one of the garages in the alley between Belleview and Kaighn Avenues. Battalion Chief Frank Saia arrived on seen first, followed quickly by Squad Company 7, Rescue Company 1, and a unit from the East Camden fire house, most likely Engine Company 9. The garage belonging to 1457 Kaighn Avenue was badly damaged, and the garage belonging to 1455 Kaighn Avenue also suffered damage. As with the web page covering other Camden Fire Department events, if you can identify anyone that I've missed, please e-mail me. (I'm terrible at at names and faces). Phil
