WILLIAM. A. NAYLOR SR. was born in Pennsylvania in 1890. He married at age 31, and with his wife had two children, William Jr. and Edith. In late 1929 or early 1930 the family moved to Mill Road in Landis Township, Cumberland County NJ. He was at that time working as a pipe fitter at a dye works. The Naylors later moved to 17 Garfield Avenue in Clementon NJ. William Naylor was a member of Philates Lodge No. 527, F&AM, of Philadelphia. He also was a member of the Laurel Springs NJ based Lower Camden County Post 2142, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kansas City MO. During the years of World War II, William Naylor Sr. was a member of the United States Merchant Marine, serving as a second assistant engineer. He died suddenly in New York City on April 5, 1944. Surviving were his wife, Elsie L. Naylor, his son Private First Class William A. Naylor Jr. USMC, his daughter Edith J. Naylor of Clementon, and two sisters. His funeral was held on April 10, 1944 at a funeral home at 51 Park Boulevard, Clementon NJ. |
