QUARTERMASTER SECOND CLASS RALPH BIRD CROSS was born in Kansas on October 7, 1922. His father, Fred Cross was a steel worker. Sadly, by April of 1930, his mother had passed away. Fred and Ralph Cross then lived in Shawnee KS, with grandmother Martha Miller. 

Ralph Bird Cross joined the United States Navy on October 12, 1940. By December of 1945 Ralph Bird Cross had married Mildred Procacci. The couple's home address was 441 South 3rd street in Camden NJ.

Quartermaster Ralph Bird Cross died of causes not related to combat on December 12, 1945 in San Diego County, California. He was brought home to New Jersey, and was buried at Beverly National Cemetery on December 29, 1945.
