PRIVATE FIRST CLASS OSCAR LEE WRENN was born in North Carolina in 1912 to James Thomas "Jim" Wrenn. and his wife, the former Louetta Oakley. He had fourteen brothers and sisters, ten from his father's first wife, the former Sallie E. Tatum Wrenn. Oscar Wrenn had a grammar school education, was married, and was working as a machine operator when drafted at Fort Bragg NC on April 7, 1944. The 1946 Army casualty lists state that he had ties to Camden County NJ.

Private First Class Wrenn was killed in action while serving with the 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division, on March 5, 1945 during the preparations for the Division's attack across the Ahr River.
