PRIVATE FIRST CLASS MILTON BEAUMONT KEGEL was born on April 21, 1926 in Pennsylvania to Frederick W. and Ethel Beaumont Kegel. His early years were spent in Chester PA, where his father worked as a press hand in a sheet metal shop. The family in 1930 lived at 819 West 7th street in Chester, and included a younger brother, Russell. The Kegel family later relocated to 407 Crescent Boulevard (US Route 130) in Brooklawn NJ.

Milton B. Kegel was killed in action on Okinawa on June 20, 1945. His death was reported in the July 24, 1945 edition of the Camden Courier-Post. He was brought back to United States territory and was buried at Honolulu Memorial in Hawaii.
