CORPORAL LUDWIG HANEL was born in New York in 1920. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hanel of Blackwood NJ, he had lived on Browning Road in Bellmawr NJ before he had been inducted into the United States Army, on August 7, 1942 at Camden NJ. Qualifying for flight duty, he was sent overseas in December of the following year. Corporal Hanel was killed when his plane crashed in the Philippine Islands in January of 1945
