MACHINIST'S MATE THIRD CLASS JOHN E. RAUSCH was a 1930 graduate of Collingswood (NJ) High School. During the 1930s he had served in the Pennsylvania National Guard with the 108th Field Artillery. A machinist, he had worked for the Bendix Aviation Company prior to enlisting in the Navy on January 31, 1944. He was stationed at the Mare Island Navy Yard in San Francisico CA, prior to being sent overseas in December 1945.

He died while serving in Manila, Philippine Islands, at the age of 33 on February 21, 1946. He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Rausch, of 7184 Ogontz Avenue, Philadelphia PA.
