PRIVATE FIRST CLASS JAMES
F. ELLIOTT was born in Audubon, New Jersey on November 20, 1912 to Edward James Elliott
and his
wife the former Susanna Shaw Edwards. When the census was taken in 1940
he and his wife Pauline lived in Lansdowne PA. They later moved to 338
West Merchant Street in Audubon NJ. He
was inducted into the United States Army in August of 1943, entering the
Army from Delaware County PA. Assigned to
the 307th Infantry Regiment, 77th Infantry Division, he trained at Fort
Lewis WA, before going overseas.
Private First Class James
F. Elliott fought on Guam, Tinian, and Saipan. He was killed in action
on May 16, 1945 on Okinawa. Besides his wife and parents, he was
survived by brothers Harry, Robert, and Jack. His death was reported in
the July 14, 1945 edition of the Camden Courier-Post.
