AVIATION RADIOMAN SECOND CLASS HERBERT MUGRAUER had lived in Audubon NJ. His father, Herbert J. Mugrauer, had been in the automobile business in nearby Oaklyn NJ before moving to 118 West Street in Woodbury NJ. Entering the Navy after Pearl Harbor, he qualified for flight duty, and trained as a radio operator. Flying off the aircraft carrier USS Hancock CV-19, Herbert Mugrauer was killed in action when his plane went down in the Philippine Islands on October 25, 1944 near the San Bernardino Straights. Survived by his parents, his death was reported in the November 27, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post. |
