SERGEANT GRANT S. CATE was one of three sons of Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Cate of 6221 Upsal Street in Pennsauken NJ to serve in the Army during WWII. Born around 1920, he was a graduate of Merchantville (NJ) High School. When he was drafted he was living at 2303 Cove Road in Pennsauken NJ and working as a punch press operator. 

Grant Cate received his orders and reported for duty on July 7, 1942 and was sent initially to Fort Dix. In August of 1943 the Camden Courier-Post published the picture of the Cate brothers below, with news of their Army activities. At that time, Grant Cate, then a corporal, was serving at Shreveport LA. The Courier-Post gave the family address at that time as 2303 Cove Road, Pennsauken NJ.  

He was 24 when he  died during amphibious maneuvers off the coast of Italy. He was survived by his parents, and brothers Deane and Kenneth Cate.
