PRIVATE FIRST CLASS FREDERICK A. BREY was born on September 25, 1916 in Camden NJ to Mr. and Mrs. William Brey. Prior to his induction into the United States Army, he worked for the John R. Evans Company and later at the New York Shipbuilding Corporation shipyards, and lived at 3168 Westfield Avenue with his wife, Dorothy W. Brey. After joining the Army in May of 1943, he received basic training in the United States. He was sent overseas in October, 1943 as a replacement to the assigned to the 26th Infantry Regiment of the 1st Infantry Division. Private First Class Brey landed in France with the 1st Infantry Division on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He was killed in action while serving with the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, near Marigny, France on July 28, 1944. His death was reported in the September 2, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post. He was survived by his wife, his father William, of 1619 42nd Street, Pennsauken NJ, three brothers, Benjamin Brey, of Camden, Edward and William Brey, of Merchantville, and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Turner of Camden, and Mrs. Anna Thatcher of Maple Shade NJ. Frederick Brey was brought home after the war ended. He was buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly NJ on September 24, 1948 |
