TECHNICIAN FIFTH CLASS ALBERT GAROFOLO was bron in Pennsylvania around 1918. When the Census was taken in April of 1930 he and older brother Alfred were living on the farm of his sep-parents, Rocco and Rose DiGerolamo, in the Blue Anchor section of Winslow Township NJ, and their children Angelo, Rose, Frank, Rocco, and Katherine. Technician Fifth Class Garofolo was 27 when he was killed in action in Germany on April 1, 1945. He had ben inducted into the Army in early 1941, and served as a cook with the 113th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division. He went overseas with the 8th in January of 1944. Albert Garofolo had attended grade school in Blue Anchor. He was survived by his mother, Mrs. Rose Garofolo of Blue Anchor NJ, brothers Joseph D. Garofolo, of Hammonton NJ, Alfredo Garofolo, of Camden NJ, and James Garofolo, of Philadelphia PA, and a step-brother, Angelo DeGerolamo, who was serving in the U.K. at the time of Albert Garofolo's death. |
