PRIVATE WILLIAM SIPLIN was born in Florida in 1913, one of at least seven children born to Cornelius and Mary Siplin. The elder Siplin worked as a farm laborer and as an orange picker. William Siplin had a grammar school education prior to entering the work force himself.

William Siplin lived in Orange County FL through at least the spring of 1930. By 1942 he had married, but was separated from his wife and children when inducted into the army at Camp Blanding FL on November 28 of that year. His serial number indicates that he was inducted from the 4th Corps area, which included the Deep South states (NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, TN). He indicated that he was a resident of Bergen County when he was inducted.

Provate Siplin died while serving in the United States Army during World War II due to causes not related to enemy action. He indicated Camden County NJ either as his home address or as that of his G.I. insurance beneficiary or next of kin.
