PRIVATE FIRST CLASS RICHARD L. DENTINO was born in New Jersey on August 5, 1917 to Antonio and Bambina Dentino. Both his parents had come from Italy, his father arriving in 1905 and his mother in 1916. He was the first of nine sons born by 1930, the others being Orlando, Warren (Guerino), Lawrence (Fioravanti), Albert, Rinaldo, Frank, Carmen, and Giulio. At the time of the 1930 census, Antonio Dentino was working as a laborer for the railroad, and the family had purchased a home at 442 South Second Street, near the corner of South Second and Berkeley Streets, in Camden NJ. Richard De ntino was inducted into the United States Army. He was assigned to the 143rd Infantry Regiment of the 36th Infantry Division. Private First Class Richard Dentino died of wounds received in combat on October 12, 1944. Survived by his parents, brothers, and sister Jeannette, his body was returned to the United States after the war. Buried on May 21, 1948, Richard Dentino rests alongside his parents at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill NJ. |
