John Lalli was the third child, he had two older sisters, Mary and Josephine, and his uncle, also named John Lalli, lived there and worked as tailor with Nicholas.

John Lalli worked as an auto mechanic prior to being inducted into the Army, shortly after the draft was instituted in the summer of 1940. He was killed in action while serving with the 13th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, in Germany on March 29, 1945. He had seen action in 13 major battles after D-Day when he was killed.

After the war ended, John Lalli was brought home to New Jersey, and he was buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly NJ on August 30, 1949.
