CORPORAL
WILLIAM ADDISON WINNER was born in Burlington, New Jersey on May 29,
1890. He was living in Riverton, New Jersey when he registered for
the draft on June 5, 1917. Not long afterwards, he moved to 26 Volan
Street in Merchantville, New Jersey.

A. Winner was inducted into the United States Army on May 21, 1918 at
Beverly, New Jersey. After training at Camp Dix, he was sent to Camp
Joseph E. Johnston in Jacksonville, Florida in July, 1918. He was
promoted to Corporal on August 8, 1918 and sent overseas shortly
afterwards. Corporal Winner was assigned to Company M, 417th Motorized
Supply Train, attached to the American First Army.
Corporal
Winner survived the fighting in France only to fall victim to the
Spanish flu pandemic that took the lives millions world-wide in 1918 and
1919. He died in France on November 27, 1918,
