CORPORAL JOHN H. MEISLE of 51 Penn Street, Camden NJ died from wounds on September 24, 1918. He was wounded north of Belfort, France by an enemy shell. He was the serving with Company E, 114th Infantry Regiment, and was not engaged in combat when the shell landed.

John Meisle had enlisted in the 3rd Infantry Regiment, New Jersey National Guard in June of 1916, and was with that unit when it left for Camp Edge, Sea Girt NJ, on July 25, 1917. From there he was sent to Camp McClellan, Anniston AL, before going overseas in June of 1918.
