PRIVATE
GAETANO VINCIGUERRA was born on December 6, 1892 in Riposto, Catania,
Italy to Mr. and Mrs. Alfredo Vinciguerra, By June of 1917 the family
had moved to Camden NJ, residing at 912 Locust Street.
Gaetano
Vinciguerra was working as a laborer for the Public Service Gas Company,
which had a large plant near his home on Locust Street,
when he registered for the draft on June 5, 1917. He was drafted February 25, 1918, and
sent
to Camp Dix for training. He was assigned to Company D, 309th
Infantry, and sailed for France with that regiment in May of 1918.
Private
Gaetano Vincigunerra was killed in action on October 4, 1918 during the
Battle of the Argonne Forest. He was survived by his father and several
siblings.
