The Camden City Medical Society was organized June 2, 1853. |
On February 7, 1853 Rachel Cooper sold the land lying between Market and Federal Streets, east of Eighth Street, to Charles Fockler, who laid it out in 51 building lots, This was a big real estate transaction in those days. |
The early closing movement started in Camden, with all grocery stores in the city agreeing to close at 8:00 PM every evening except on Saturdays, took hold in 1853. |
A Census revealed that there were 3110 children between the ages of 5 and 18 years in Camden in 1853. The largest number lived in the South Ward. |
