VILLIERS PLACE ran east from 630 North Front Street until it ended as a dead end, in North Camden. The street first appears in Camden City Directories in 1931, and was still listed in the last Directory, published in 1947. No addresses were ever listed.

The 1906 Sanborn map shows that a three story attached wood frame building, divided into 6 addresses, all used as businesses, stood at 626, 628, 630, 632, 634, & 636 North Front Street. It is possible that these addresses may have been razed, with the idea of a short street to occupy what had been there.

The origin of the Villiers Place name is open to conjecture. The only Villiers that appears to be connected to Camden was Amy Villiers Whyte, the daughter of long-time Camden County Surrogate George Walton Whyte.
