PALMER STREET originally ran east from Mulford Street to Charles Street and the western boundary of the Butler Cemetery, founded, owned, and operated by black businessman Dempsey Butler in the 1800s. When the R.T. Cream School, which opened in 1991, was built, Palmer Street was closed to public use, and only serves to give emergency and delivery vehicles access to the rear of the school. To my knowledge, no buildings ever stood on Palmer Street. |
