HORNET ROAD is a one block long thoroughfare that runs from 2842 North Constitution Avenue east to its ending on North Congress Road. There are no houses or addresses on Hornet Road. Hornet Road is named after the original USS Hornet, one of the America's first warships. The original Hornet was a merchant sloop that was chartered in 1775 to serve in the Continental Navy in 1775. Seven other United States Navy ships have born the name hornet, including the aircraft carriers USS Hornet CV-8 and USS Hornet CV-12, both seeing considerable action during World War II. |
Do you have an Hornet Road memory or picture. Let me know by e-mail so it can be included here. Phil Cohen |
