GOLD STREET was small street that lay between South 8th Street and Silver Street, south of Line Street. It could only be accessed by wagon or auto from Silver Street. Gold Street first shows residences, along with Silver Street, in the 1888 Camden City Directory. Neither Gold or Silver Street appear in the 1885 Sanborn Maps of Camden. Of the six houses on Gold Street, only 717 and 719 are listed in the 1929 City Directory, and Gold Street does not appear in the 1930 Census. Silver Street had occupied homes on both of its blocks as late as 1980. |
