Introduction
The Jordan Motor Sales Company handled the Acme Motor Truck Company line in the early 1920s. Acme Motor Truck was based in Cadillac MI.
780 Wright Avenue no longer exists. Wright Avenue runs parallel to Newton Avenue southwest from Federal Street, and prior to the construction of I-676 ran all the way through to Haddon Avenue. The National Guard Armory, which has been Camden’s public works building for many years, has an address of 840 Wright Avenue. Jordan Motor Sales would have been located just southwest of the Armory.
The Acme Motor Truck Company was an integral part of Cadillac’s industrial era, even though it operated for only 17 years. The company was started in 1915 as Cadillac Auto Truck Company and was located in the plant on the corner of Lake and Mason that had been Michigan Iron Works. The new City Hall is located on this site. In 1917 they changed the name to Acme Truck and built the plant on Haynes Street. Acme was closed in 1932.

This photo is an exceptionally rare find, as this scene is most likely from the company’s very early days when the office was located at Harris and Lake Streets. The names of these gents are listed on the back of the photo—it is unclear if the order of the names (as written) corresponds to the position of each man in the photo: Morris Miser, Harry Richards, Julius Ogren, R.K. King, Vance Hill.
