Introduction
The bar at 1226 Broadway became The Tender Trap in the mid-1970s. It had been known from the 1950s through the early 1970s as Bert’s Cafe, and prior to that it was called Buradine’s.
In the 1990s the Tender Trap was a fun spot to be. In the late 1990s Rhock was the DJ, working behind the front bar, and Big Flo ran breakfasts on Saturday mornings every now and then.
Longtime proprietor “Greenie” took ill and passed on, and his pal “Whip” ran it until he became too ill to carry it forward. There were a few attempts to sell the property that did not pan out, and The Tender Trap closed its doors for the last time around 2001. The building is unoccupied at the present time.
