Still open — Stetser’s Tavern in Camden, the scene of a shooting Wednesday, avoided being closed by the city’s Alcoholic Beverage Control board yesterday.
Board’s Attempt to Shut Tavern in Camden Fails
CAMDEN — The city’s Alcoholic Beverage Control board temporarily failed yesterday in its effort to close down Stetser’s Tavern at 2046 Federal Street. The board voted against renewal and notified the owner of its decision but allowed a stay of order while he appealed the decision.
Stetser’s attorney, Eisenberg, pointed out that the shooting has no relationship to the complaints brought against the bar. As for the general tone of complaints about Stetser’s, Eisenberg contends that the tavern is being run in an orderly fashion and the complaints stem mostly from people congregating on the public sidewalk outside — beyond the tavern owner’s ability to control matters.
Eisenberg said he knew nothing of a complaint by the state Alcoholic Beverage Control board charging that Stetser is merely a front for four partners who really own the establishment.
DiCola said the state complaint identifies the four owners as John Monroe, Louis Rosario, Yong Park and Angel Rosa. He said a hearing on the state’s complaint has not yet been scheduled.
