The Silent Club

The Silent Club in Camden was a social club where deaf people could meet and socialize with other deaf people. The club had rooms for many years on the second floor of 431 Broadway, above Skulnick's Jewelers. The Skulnick's apparently made the rooms available to the club, as one of their family members was deaf himself. In its heyday the club met on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

While the Silent Club is long gone from its Camden headquarters, deaf advocacy and deaf culture groups are quite active in South Jersey and the greater Philadelphia area.
